San Joaquin River Trout Fishing
San Joaquin Guide Service has fished for trout all over Central California from 11,000 feet elevation to valley floor rivers and all lakes in the area. However, we specialize in those hard to reach secret spots where the fish do not see lures that often, such as lake head waters and rivers. On the Kings and San Joaquin River systems, both of these rivers have trophy trout in them which are mostly rainbows.
San Joaquin River Trout Fishing Techniques
San Joaquin Guide Services' biggest trout weighed 6.5 lbs and measured 27 inches. We let the clients choose the method of fishing they prefer from power drifting, anchoring, trolling or getting out of the boat wading and fishing from shore. We supply all equipment except fly fishing gear. The guide will recommend what works best in the different areas. He is there to give help however he can to make the trip as productive as possible. We prefer fishing with crank baits that many would say are too large for trout. One of the benefits of this is the possibility of catching other fish such as striped bass, spotted bass or squaw fish.
San Joaquin River & Kings River Trout Fishing
Both Kings and San Joaquin Rivers have changing water flows because of both runoff and dam releases. Your guide knows these flows and where to fish in them.
San Joaquin River Trout Fishing Trip
Trout can be caught all day depending on water flow, but we normally like to get an early start. When you do arrive at time and location, guide will go over safety precautions and let you know what to expect and your options. Clients are welcome to give input as to the style they would like to fish or if they would like to target multiple species.
